Radacadabra’s parents are the Royal Academy of Dance

The Royal Academy of Dance is very much like a stage – we have lots of different aspects that make up our organisation.

About RAD

We are a membership organisation so all the people we help and work with play a part in what we do. We make a very big team – there are 13,500 members across in 83 countries.

Some of our members are teaching members like Zhu-ting. To be a Registered Teacher you have to have taken a special course that our Faculty of Education provide so that you have a thorough knowledge of the RAD syllabus and you’re qualified to enter children for examinations.

The Academy hosts a number of competitions which give people like Jake the chance to shine.

These competitions include the Genée International Ballet Competition, the Fonteyn Nureyev Young Dancers Competition and the Phyllis Bedells Bursary.

Jasmine is an affiliate member; she has certificates for many of the RAD’s Graded & Vocational Graded examinations and a qualification in Benesh Movement Notation.

The RAD really depends on their friends – they help support us and in return they receive the Academy’s fab magazine dance gazette. Find out about becoming a friend.

The RAD creates special music to accompany the syllabus it provides. For examinations you need to have a pianist accompany you, like Occy.

Cruz is currently studying towards his Graded examinations. The Royal Academy of Dance provides examinations to reward achievement. Find out about taking RAD examinations.

Polly loves to take part in the training courses we run – she has attended a summer school at the Academy and has also taken part in courses, which we run across the globe.

The RAD promotes dance in all shapes and forms. We produce a magazine, dance gazette, which covers lots of interesting dance stories and keep members up to date with news and events.
